It's not the interest rates that caused the problem. They are not even historically high at all. It's the damn spending driving inflation, quantitative easing, and government asset bubbles and market distortions.  The gov't owns or backs $XX trillion out of the $XX trillion in mortgages. The notion that you just snap your fingers and set the federal funds rate to near zero, and it would solve this is mentally ill.  You saw what happened with the XXX bps drop last fall, didn't you?

If you want to blame Powell it's for going along with the money printing to begin with.
