The fintech company has submitted an application to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) to create the First National Digital Currency Bank. This institution will not function as a typical consumer bank, as it will not provide deposits or loans. Instead, it will focus on managing $USDC reserves, overseeing cash and short-term Treasury holdings, and offering digital asset custody services for institutional clients.
