"When the term growth is used in an economic context it means GDP growth Its fascinating that youre so used to your political & economic worldview being the dominant one that you cant conceive that the word growth (in an economic context) could mean anything else than what you believe it to be. I recognise it must seem annoying to you having people question your faith like this but GDP wasnt handed to us on stone tablets from the gods it is a highly artificial concept made up by western societies and accepted as a fact for less than XXX% of the history of our species. He is reacting this way because GDP growth is for him (like many right wingers) a totemic belief in which he places his deepest faith.
