"Many may not know that Bitcoin miners can legally write off their rigs and electricity and yes even hosting fees if your machines live in someone elses data center. The tax code treats Bitcoin mining like a business when its run like one. That means if youre stacking sats with real intent to profit (why wouldnt you) the IRS lets you deduct the costs of the tools that make it happen. In 2025 Section XXX lets you expense up to $XXX million in equipment. So if you dropped sats on new ASICs or cooling systems thats a big deal. Bonus depreciation is also back to XXX% for gear acquired and placed"

"Any Bitcoin miner from a Bitaxe to a S19 to a Canaan Avalon (among many others) can be written off if the intent is to turn a profit (it is) and you keep records. I prefer having my miners hosted or housed at a location other than my home because then I dont have to deal with the heat noise and electricity is significantly less expensive. The important thing to remember about hosting with companies like Compass or Sazmining (among many others) is to be sure to read the contracts to ensure you can get the miner back after the contract there is guaranteed uptime among other things.
