"At the same time we cant just ignore the DFS loss He was effectively our C last year since he came into the game X mins in and closed every game. Old players decline suddenly then all at once. Lebron at XX may see a real decline + injuries catching up especially on defense There wasnt a single point last year where the team either didnt have AD or DFS. Now they have neither. So if 3-4 weeks into the season it turns out the lakers have a bottom X defense It wont be that shocking"

"Looks like you need to recheck whatever stats you're checking my friend lol 2022 - XX game played Finals DPOY 2023 - XX games played 2024 Memphis - Sat out XX games due to illness (no injury) then had a severe finger injury that sidelined him for X weeks That's the year the entire memphis team went down and got injured . so they agreed there was no real need for Smart to come back and play and just better for him to sit out remainder of the year and give the young guys a chance to play (same as they did with other vets) 2025 - recurring finger injuries that had him out XX games and then teams"

"LOL it's calling filling a need brotha Lakers have enough scorers and scoring Smart even in a down season last year was 90th percentile in perimeter isolation D and 4th among guards in DEPM. They needed defense at POA and wing and toughness An experienced guy who helped a team get to the finals and DPOY That's exactly what they got. You got a guy that complains about his role and scoring opportunities and gets into fights with his coaches when they ask him to play some defense or change his role and has a single semi finals appearance on his resume.
