"The entrepreneurship through acquisition (ETA) path is not for everyone. It is sold to many as an easy way to make buck and that it's a PE-like work where you allocate capital source deals and execute transactions (which is just like 5-10% of the work). The reality is that it's operations-heavy (think 90% of the work) as you then need to run the company after buying it. And most of the 'finance and consulting bros' - the ultimate target audience for this structure - are not really capable of running the show. And it's the operations that are the deal making or breaking part of the value-add"
