"One way to conceptualize these large $10-100B+ renewable energy infrastructure projects is by thinking of them as unlocking some massive oil or gas discovery (e.g. Sakhalin) except with the added benefit of being a lot cleaner. The cost of unlocking these discoveries is the hard work of infrastructure construction. But once these massive works are complete with the right level of maintenance they can generate clean energy as long as the sun still shines"
