Blake Hornsby, 37, has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of his mother, Mary Jane Ward, 64, of Quitman, Georgia. Deputies found Mary Jane deceased in her home with "severe bruising, dark marks on her neck," consistent with being choked. Hornsby was found crying & distraught, with "open wounds bleeding" on his hands when law enforcement arrived. On Wednesday, July 23, around 12:30 PM, deputies responded to a call for help at a home in the 5000 block of Still Pond Road in Washington County, Florida. As deputies approached, they heard crying inside. Hornsby opened the door, stating, "she's inside." Police noted blood on Hornsby's hands, with "busted and cut knuckles," & visible scratch marks on his body consistent with a physical altercation. When asked what happened, Hornsby allegedly told an investigator, "the robots made him do it," but did not explain further. Neighbors & family members confirmed no one else was at the home around the time of Mary Jane's death.
