Solar really is nuclear capturing the sun's fusion energy, as is wind less directly. Nuclear still requires fuel, which can be problematic (you have to mine and refine it). Solar and wind capture energy instead of consuming fuel directly. Since the sun is already burning fuel, best bet is capture its energy. I don't think people realize the value of adding solar, once there it doesn't require fuel to maintain. This creates energy independence. This is why China has added like XXX GW of solar in the past XX months. This is peak power of XXX nuclear reactors. The US only has about XXX reactors. These aren't 1:1 comparisons, but all this power capability China is adding represents additional available compute power, which is the future.
