A good hybrid like what Toyota uses and others with eCVT and Atkinson cycle engines uses half the energy as a traditional gas car. They recapture energy like an EV does which is a large part of it and the Atkinson cycle is more efficient cruising on the highway. An EV uses half again the energy.
