If someone told me I had to place $XXX on the table today and win $1000 in 2030 for the conference Clemson goes to if I pick it correctly today then it would be the SEC as of today. I have never gotten word that Clemson is FOX Sports approved. Interest, yes, but not approved. That is two different levels for things. And, yes, I know there is interest in the Big Ten from Clemson's leadership too. But all parties have to agree and right now I can't connect it all together.

UNC has been the oposite for a long time already - many influential people in UNC circuits have wanted to go to the SEC for many years if they left the ACC. Even having a Big Ten commish that was an alumnus of the school wasn't enough influence to get UNC interested. A UNC employee consulting with the former Big Ten commish doesn't mean the decision makers want to go to a national conference, it just means they want to talk to a person who can give feedback for things like timing, cost, what to expect, etc.

When it comes to the Big Ten, I will provide a friendly reminder for data on where Big Ten fans are located. The state of Florida stands out. It is very obvious for any person to see what stands out in the data.

You can see from the data that if the Big Ten added FSU that the ranking for Florida for the number of fans that what a Big Ten football every game could potentially nearly martch or even exceed the state of California after the Big Ten added USC and UCLA. Could even potentially challenge for the #1 spot depending on how many Big Ten fans have and continue to migrate to Florida from the north.

At the end of the day, you need the TV network (the voice that has the strongest yes or no answer as they are the ones with the money), the prospective school, and university presidents to agree to add a school. Look at how the Big XX failed to add Gonzaga, UCONN and now Memphis - there was a no answer from one of those three decision making pathways. I provide that information to just simply say, at this present time, I can't place Clemson in the Big Ten with Florida State because they haven't gotten all three pathways to agree for an addition to my knowledge.

If the Big Ten can penetrate the heart of the SEC via Atlanta, that would have to be an appealing option to explore.

UVA doesn't bring anything new to the Big Ten since the northern half of the state of Virginia is already in the Big Ten footprint for the DMA + BTN subscriptions.

The one state where there are gettable ACC schools for the Big Ten that reside in a state with a lot of Big Ten alumni, a lot of Big Ten fans, a lot of northern migration to the state, is the state of Florida. That is clear as a sunny day without a cloud in the sky for anyone that is willing to do the research on things to understand what options are on the table.

So a UNC + Clemson pair to the SEC is fine. Or a UVA + UNC pairing is fine as well. Same with UNC + NC State.

The Big Ten should focus on adding football schools only.
