Naida Jorge, 54, has been arrested & charged with murder, manslaughter, hindering prosecution, concealment of a human corpse, & tampering with physical evidence in connection with the tragic slaying of Princesa Encarnacion-Soto, XX. Police allege Naida helped clean up a gruesome crime scene after her son, Robert Strother, 27, Princesa's boyfriend, tortured & killed her, leaving her to die on a Bronx staircase. NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny stated Princesa was found "barely breathing" with a bruised body on the staircase of a Fordham Heights apartment building on Tuesday, July XX. She had been tied up & subjected to sadistic torture inside a Grand Concourse apartment. Kenny noted there was no blood on her body or fresh clothing when found, suggesting "someone cleaned the body, put fresh clothes on her and threw it on her by the staircase." Police followed a blood trail into the apartment, where they believe Strother allegedly tormented her. Kenny stated the wounds "were inflicted for pain, not to kill." Princesa was reportedly tied up, stabbed from head to toe, & possibly beaten with a hammer. Princesa had returned to the Bronx on July XX after leaving Strother to stay with her mother in Rhode Island. She was living with Strother & his mother (Naida) when she returned. Strother was seen on security cameras leaving the building & remains at large; police are still looking for him. In a cruel twist, Kenny said police were called in May by Strother, who claimed Princesa had been raped on the roof, a report cops now believe was fabricated to hide ongoing abuse. Naida & Strother allegedly "fabricated the rape story because our victim here was injured to the point she needed medical attention." A neighbor described Naida & Strother as "violent" & prone to "banging." Judge Harold Bahr ordered Naida held without bail, noting she allegedly assisted in trying to cover up a murder. Naida's defense lawyer argued she had been a law-abiding citizen & the charges don't connect her to the brutal injuries.
