NEW BOARD MEMBERS OF NATIONAL LOTTERIES AND GAMING REGULATORY BOARD:

earlier today inaugurated the new board members of National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB) 

The new board is chaired by Mr. Kenneth Kitariko. Other members of the board are: Assistant Commissioner of Police, Odong Mark Paul, Ms. Faridah Bahemuka Murungi, Ms. Esther Akullo and Mr. William Blick.

Kasaija in his remarks said Government recognizes the importance of the Gaming Sector, not only as a source of non-tax revenue but also in promoting responsible gaming, consumer protection, and economic formalization.

He said this sector must be regulated in a manner that balances innovation, growth, and social safeguards.

"You have been entrusted with a critical responsibility – to oversee and guide the strategic direction of a sector that continues to evolve rapidly due to technology, market trends, and societal impacts. As stewards of the public trust, you are expected to uphold the highest standards of transparency, accountability, and ethical leadership," said the Finance Minister.

He also urged the new Board to strengthen the regulatory framework to address emerging trends such as online gaming and digital transactions,in addition to
promoting responsible gaming practices and safeguarding the welfare of the public, especially the youth and vulnerable groups.

The Minister also thanked the outgoing Board under the leadership of  Mr. Aloysius Mugasa Adyeri for its pivotal role in reforming a once chaotic sector into a modern, transparent, and credible regulatory body. 

"You have played your part in building an institution of national importance. As you exit, may you take pride in the milestones achieved under your leadership," said Kasaija.

The new Board Chairman Mr. Kitariko thanked the Minister for the confidence placed in them and pledged a leadership rooted in integrity, dialogue and national service.
