You have to remember that the average person (in America anyway) is sadly in credit card debt because something about digital numbers on a screen doesn't seem to register the same psychologically as "money." So they're less likely to properly value it unless it's cold cash.

For those who aren't in this boat, no need to "exit" anywhere because you can just use crypto for goods. But credit cards already show is that most people just aren't cut out for managing their finances in digital form - though it really is a skill people need to learn sooner, even if crypto wasn't in the picture.

Ultimately the advice is limiting the possibility of self sabotage.
