@Brad_Setser @GlennLuk If you go back XX years, a lot of it would have been to do what they did but sooner.  So start anti-corruption earlier, also be more aggressive at trade deals with Taiwan between 2008 and 2016, and push for deeper mainland-Taiwan economic integration during this period.
