Ricardo Van Z., 38, from De Kwakel, North Holland, has admitted to sexually abusing a pregnant Shetland pony, Ona, eight times. He appeared in court in Amsterdam on Wednesday, July 23, accused of sexual intercourse with the pony & filming the acts in a pasture in Amstelveen. He is also accused of abusing his Keeshond dog & possessing child pornography, though he denies these. Van Z. allegedly committed the acts on Ona in September & October 2024, & again in April 2025. He often visited Ona in a meadow on Amsteldijk Zuid during the night. The pony's owner, who saw footage of Van Z. leading Ona to a shelter, claimed he used rope to tie her up. Van Z. testified he used baby oil on the animal. After the abuse, Ona developed an infection & exhibited stressful behavior, prompting her owner's investigation. Van Z. was arrested on October 31, 2024, & issued a restraining order, but he reportedly returned to the meadow in April 2025 to abuse Ona again. Police found eight recordings of sex with the pony & over XXX child pornographic images at his home. Van Z. claims the child pornography appeared on his computer while searching for naked women, denying he's a pedophile. He denies harming his dog. Van Z. expressed regret, citing "unhappiness, loneliness, tension, stress, and setbacks." The prosecution is demanding a 15-month prison sentence (eight suspended), a two-year probationary period, & a ban on keeping pets.
