⚠️ WARNING: This post contains graphic descriptions of injuries.

Paul Andrew Hart, 52, a father of three, has been jailed for XX months for a prank at a Bunnings Warehouse in Northam, Western Australia, that left XX people hospitalized with injuries. Hart claimed he intended to use "fart spray" but accidentally grabbed "Satan's Spit," a chili substance, & deliberately dispersed it around unsuspecting shoppers on Anzac Day in 2024.

CCTV footage shows Hart entering the store, spraying the substance as he walked past a woman & her daughter, then spraying it in an aisle before covering his face & calmly leaving. Shoppers began coughing & struggling to breathe, covering burning eyes, or running out in a panic. Eleven people were rushed to the hospital, where they were forced to strip & decontaminate in outdoor showers. One victim told the court they thought they were "going to die," with another recalling, "We were naked and afraid, I was freezing cold and embarrassed." Many victims reported ongoing paranoia.

The Bunnings store closed for the day, losing an estimated $XXXXXX in profit. Hart claimed he was troubled by nightmares & had been drinking alcohol that morning. However, District Court Judge Felicity Zempilas rejected his defense, ruling he "deliberately brought a noxious and a dangerous product to a public place." Hart will be eligible for parole later this year. The court also heard Hart had outstanding arrest warrants in Queensland & South Australia, & had been sentenced for making false statements against an ex-partner, a custody officer, & a prosecutor.
