The Deputy Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan has said that the construction of the Trans-Afghan railway project is expected to be completed within five years.

According to reports from Central Asian media, Jasurbek Choriev emphasized that signing the agreement to conduct a feasibility study is the first and most critical step in the project.

He described the railway as vital for linking Uzbekistan to ports in Pakistan. Highlighting transport challenges through Turkmenistan and Iran, Choriev noted that due to geopolitical influence on neighboring countries, Uzbekistan is compelled to seek alternative trade routes.
