A 39-year-old man from Staten Island, New York, is being questioned by police after allegedly tossing his 1-year-old niece down a third-floor garbage chute on Monday afternoon, July XX.

NYPD responded to the XXX Steuben St. building shortly before 3:15 PM on reports of an emotionally disturbed person. Inside, police found the child three floors below the chute opening. The baby reportedly suffered a scrape to her torso but was otherwise unharmed. No charges have been filed yet, and the investigation is ongoing.
