Delta Flight 3788 was nearing the end of its 90-minute journey from Minneapolis to North Dakota's Minot International Airport on Friday, July 18, when the pilot suddenly made a series of sharp, unexpected turns. The passenger jet climbed abruptly before circling the area & returning for a safe landing. The "aggressive maneuver" startled passengers & crew who were unaware the plane had come terrifyingly close to a massive B-52 Stratofortress flying out of Minot Air Force Base. After landing, the pilot addressed his passengers, revealing air traffic control had instructed an abrupt course change due to inadequate separation from another aircraft. He explained he initially thought it was a small plane but it was a massive military jet. The pilot said he did not know how fast the bomber was flying but felt it was safest to turn behind it. He expressed surprise at not receiving a heads-up, as the Air Force base "does have radar." Passenger Monica Green, who captured footage of the pilot's explanation, described the atmosphere onboard as "weirdly calm," despite the evasive maneuvers. She noted the pilot seemed "stressed" but was "nice and detailed." SkyWest has launched an investigation into the incident, which the FAA is also reviewing. The Minot International Airport tower, which is run by a private company, reportedly does not have radar coverage, relying on visual separation. 🙏Please share to spread awareness DISCLAIMER: The information shared is based on initial reports, may not be fully verified, and is presented as alleged.
