Yes, you are right as in past administrations it wasn’t just the agencies that failed but also the presidents who lacked economic expertise. That combination led to major crises like  S&L collapse or 2008 banking crises. Those presidents deferred to policymakers to handle the situations without understanding the consequences. And yes, replacing Trump’s genius will be a challenge as we are already seeing the tension not only with Federal Reserve but also with the financial outlets like WSJ. Bessent even said on CNBC this morning that these institutions aren’t used to a president who is economically sophisticated, and he also calls for full examination of Federal Reserve.
