Kevin Steven Correll, 69, the prime suspect in the cold case murder of Rachelle Childs, 23, has been found deceased in Thailand while on holiday in Pa Tong last week. Rachelle's partially burned body was discovered in bushland in Gerroa, NSW, more than XX years ago, on June 8, 2001. Rachelle was found partially undressed, likely smothered or strangled, with unleaded petrol poured over her face & other body parts in an apparent attempt to hide DNA evidence. Police did not charge anyone in her murder after the early investigation was reportedly "repeatedly botched," with local police losing crucial CCTV footage & contaminating DNA evidence. Correll, a suspected serial rapist & Rachelle's boss at Camden Holden, was voluntarily questioned three times but never charged due to insufficient evidence, despite his alibi not being corroborated. A member of Correll's family stated, "Not sorry he's gone just sorry that Rachelle's family aren't going to get the justice that they so deserve." His estranged daughter, Jazz, added, "I feel sad for his many victims." Correll had been accused of rape by three other women in separate incidents, but was found not guilty in court.
