Always been true.

The psychology of sedentism largely consists of: "If you're not settled, working, paying taxes and bills, and complaining about working and paying taxes and bills -- you're a subhuman we will chase, starve out, and hunt to the edges of the earth."

True even where nomadic peoples are not criminals, are respectful, productive, self-reliant, and steer clear of interfering with the lives of settled peoples.

Part of sedentism involves having a massive chip on your shoulder against anyone who manages to evade the piss-poor fate of rising to the alarm, punching the clock, staying in one place, and paying taxes and bills.
