At least XX people have been injured, with five in critical condition, after a car ploughed into a crowd outside the Vermont nightclub on Santa Monica Boulevard in East Hollywood, Los Angeles, in the early hours of Saturday morning, July XX. Emergency services, including dozens of firefighters & police officers, responded to the scene. The crumpled remains of a grey car could be seen on the sidewalk amid debris. Video showed people crowding around the car, with others lying on the ground. LA Fire Department Captain Adam Van Gerpen stated that firefighters found a "multi casualty incident" with a large number of victims. He reported, "Apparently somebody that lost consciousness inside the vehicle and drove into a taco cart and then ultimately ran into a large number of people that were outside a club." He also mentioned reports of "a gunshot wound in one of the patients." A witness at the scene claimed she heard a gunshot before seeing the car crash, & stated the driver was tackled by security guards after remaining in the car.
