As Steve Jobs pointed out, you can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backward. That's why hedge funds use annual 10-K reports and look back over a decade to analyze management performance and determine if their statements have materialized. To completely dismiss something and say it’s not worth discussing is like a surgeon talking to a patient about risks and benefits while neglecting to discuss the risks just because there haven't been complications in the last three to four years.
