This is an excellent but incomplete point. Yes, CH4 can absorb outbound radiation very efficiently in limited frequency bands. And as this post points out, X of those bands are already covered by other gases' absorption ranges.

The missing piece is to look at the frequencies of outbound radiation that there are to absorb.  That's the dark blue area of this chart. Notice that methane does not absorb anything in earth's emission frequencies. And CO2 does not particularly absorb much in those frequencies either. So if you are a photon trying to leave earth and head off into outer space, your trip will likely not be interrupted by either methane or CO2.
