Peter Greener, 77, & his partner Sheila Jackson, 83, have died following an "absolutely sickening" suspected arson attack on their home in St Helens, UK. Emergency services were called to their end-terrace home on South John Street around 12:40 AM on Tuesday, July 15, to find it ablaze. Peter died on Wednesday, July 16, and Sheila died on Thursday, July XX. Detectives are investigating whether the fire was caused by a petrol bomb. Merseyside Police, in a joint investigation with Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service, found that an accelerant was used to maliciously start the fire. Neighbors described the front door as being ablaze, initially preventing firefighters from entering. Neighbors described Peter and Sheila, who had been together for XX years, as "lovely, lovely people" who "kept themselves to themselves." Chris, a nearby resident, expressed shock, stating, "I just have no idea why anyone would do this." Another neighbor said the community was left feeling "raw" and "all gutted."
