Timothy Taylor, 38, will spend decades in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in the May 2023 slaying of his ex-wife, Tishawn Folkes-Taylor. The two children of Timothy & Tishawn were in the home when she was killed. Taylor also faces a pending indictment in Brooklyn for the alleged murder of his current wife, whom he is accused of stabbing to death on May 13, 2023, less than two weeks before Tishawn's death.

Taylor reached a plea deal for Tishawn's murder, agreeing to a sentence of XX years in a state correctional facility. The Schenectady County District Attorney's Office stated that on May 27, 2023, Taylor traveled from North Carolina to Schenectady, checking into a hotel less than two miles from Tishawn's home. In the early morning hours of May 28, Taylor walked to her home in the 1000 block of Pleasant Street, stabbed her to death, then "exited the house through a bedroom window," discarding clothing as he walked away.

While Taylor was in Schenectady, police in Brooklyn were searching for him as a suspect in his current wife's murder. Taylor was eventually detained in Philadelphia with the assistance of U.S. Marshals & extradited back to New York. During questioning, Taylor reportedly told detectives that after killing his current wife, he "felt bad," & "knew he had to come to Schenectady to kill his former wife because he harbored so much animosity toward her and in his words, she, unlike his first victim, deserved it." Tishawn was stabbed more than XX times. District Attorney Robert M. Carney stated Tishawn "made sure to protect her children" while facing her killer. Taylor is scheduled for sentencing on September 16, 2025.
