Since 2001, the S&P XXX has been beat by the US Stocks NOT in the S&P XXX. A wildly popular “ Bogle Head” method of investing is $VOO and Chill. It’s only owning the S&P XXX. It’s good enough for them. There’s an even older Vanguard Fund than VOO and it’s $VXF which owns the rest of the US Market and eliminates the S&P XXX. Another method is owning $VTI which is every stock in the USA but its Cap Weighted. My problem with VTI is its XX% VOO and XX% VXF. Here’s the chart. Maybe VXF should be a bigger part of people’s portfolios. Maybe a 50/50 weight of VOO/VXF is more prudent than VTI. Maybe it’s smarter than VOO and Chill.
