All this does is drives up costs and redirects spending into the least efficient means of production. ( in other words, it Is the opportunity cost that is lost of where they money could have been spend productively instead ) ———— Imagine hiring more police officers, immigration officers, and soldiers to plug those evident gaps we need filled in South Africa. ( don’t let me get started on education and health ). Not only would that provide skills development, income, and instill discipline and pride, we would also drive down costs for households and businesses by having a competent, skillful, and trusted workforce driving state security. This would drive down costs and invite investment into the country while putting people to work. The long-term net benefits would certainly outweigh the short-term debt impacts. But no, government would rather fund dialogues and debates that merely result to rhetorical questioning. Mastering the art of looking busy, with no real substance. Politicians become philosophers and social media influencers as a result. ————— Over XXX XXX applicants are applying to work and the state would rather spend on dialogues and billions on interest expense rather than sorting out the affairs of the country. I can only come to some conclusions from this idiocracy, the state is captured and/or the political elites are well rewarded by oligarchies who are operating as cartels within the state’s borders. Surely it’s time to clean this mess up?
