This is false.

Currently, any commercial-scale production of battery-grade materials from primary or secondary sources is limited to lithium, with Rio Tinto and Albemarle as the main producers. For the transition metals, there is no real domestic production. If I had to guess, Tesla likely has the largest production capacity in North America, based on the numbers from their recycling program. Most primary production still takes place overseas, so if there is any battery-grade output in the United States, it is from secondary sources and well below the levels produced by China.

$ABAT is one potential source, along with other cradle-to-gate recyclers like Redwood and Ascend. The United States will see larger quantities of battery-grade sulfates from secondary sources simply because those projects take less time to bring online. That will shift once more primary projects enter production and additional companies onshore their refinement capacity.
