In one of the worst "news" pieces I have seen in a while, @nytimes reporters @vimalnyt, @sharonNYT, and @migold penned a piece tonight in which they falsely accused @RepStefanik of "inaccurately suggesting that CAIR had been a 'co-conspirator in a terrorist financing case...in a case against a charity."

CAIR WAS classified by prosecutors as an unindicted co-conspirator in the case against the "charity" (the Holy Land Foundation) whose leaders were convicted of funneling money to Hamas. Outside of the case, two federal courts actually ruled on the issue, both specifically finding that there was enough evidence to tie CAIR to HLF and Hamas.

The writers accuse Rep. Stefanik of lying even though they admit that CAIR were classified as co-conspirators, complaining that they were not indicted. But Stefanik never said they were indicted.

What the writers conceal from their agenda-driven news story, is that not only was evidence presented at trial that connected CAIR to HLF and Hamas, but that federal Judge Jorge Solis ruled in 2009 that the government's evidence indeed established CAIR's association with Hamas. On appeal in 2010, the 5th Circuit fedeal appeals court agreed that although CAIR's role should not have been made public, it refused to remove CAIR's name from the unindicted co-conspirator list, yet again agreeing that there was ample evidence to show that CAIR did indeed conspire with HLF to funnel money to Hamas.

But why would the NY Times tell you that when they would prefer to defame Rep. Stefanik, who should sue them for their false reporting about her.

It should be noted that even the FBI severed civil ties with Hamas after its designation as an unindicted co-conspirator in the HLF case.

CAIR WAS a co-conspirator in the case. They simply weren't criminally charged. No one said they were.

@nytimes, @vimalnyt, @sharonNYT, and @migold: You should IMMEDIATELY apologize for your false accusations against Rep. Stefanik and correct your story.
