Ihsan Ali, 44, & his wife Zahraa Ali, 40, are standing trial in Washington state, accused of attempting to kill their 17-year-old daughter in what may have been a possible "honor killing" plot. The parents face charges including second-degree attempted murder, second-degree attempted kidnapping, first-degree attempted kidnapping, & second-degree domestic violence assault. Ihsan Ali is also charged with fourth-degree assault, & Zahraa Ali with violation of a domestic violence protective order & second-degree burglary. The alleged attack occurred on October 18, 2024, after the victim told police her father was trying to force her to go to another country, prompting her to run away to her former public school, Timberline High School in Lacey County, believing she could find help. While waiting for a city bus to a "Safe Haven," her father allegedly approached her, stating she "needed to go home." The victim reported that her father "began pulling at her shirt," then placed her in a chokehold, causing her to lose consciousness multiple times. Video footage of the attack reportedly shows part of the fight at the bus stop. The victim's 16-year-old boyfriend intervened, punching Ihsan Ali to get him to release his hold. Witnesses described seeing the victim's eyes roll back while her father allegedly choked her. The boyfriend's mother later told police the victim had stated her father was threatening her with an honor killing for refusing an arranged marriage with an older man abroad.
