Robin Kaye, 70, an award-winning music supervisor for "American Idol," & her husband, Thomas Deluca, 70, were found murdered inside their $X million home in Encino, Los Angeles, California, on Monday, July XX. Officers were called to the six-bedroom home for a welfare check around 2:33 PM, & upon entering through a broken window, discovered Kaye & Deluca both with gunshot wounds to the head. Police noted blood at the front entrance of the home. Their deaths are being investigated as a double homicide, with the motive currently unknown. Police had been called to the home last Thursday, July 10, after neighbors reportedly spotted a person, possibly armed, attempting to hop a fence to gain entry. However, responding officers found no evidence of a break-in at that time. Family members had not heard from the couple for four days prior to the welfare check. "American Idol" issued a statement expressing devastation, calling Kaye "a cornerstone of the Idol family" who was "truly loved and respected." Kaye had worked as music supervisor for XX seasons of "American Idol" & other notable shows. Deluca was a musician & songwriter. The couple purchased the home in January 2023; it was previously owned by late rapper Juice WRLD.
