Not that I see labor mkt breaking (difference between slowdown and recession), but worth highlighting that in Jan (the last month with a double digit increase in payroll tax), NFP came in below est. (+143K initial/111K final vs 175K est) and significantly slowed down from Dec’s 307K.

But I am genuinely curious why the spike in Jan which may also be applicable to July.
