RJ, a quadriplegic since a motorcycle accident, underwent the surgical milestone earlier this year at UHealth Tower, the University of Miami Health System's flagship hospital. He is one of only seven people nationwide to have received the coin-sized implant, which was placed by a surgical robot. RJ demonstrated his new abilities, including turning on his TV for the first time in two and a half years, playing video games like Call of Duty & Mario Kart, and designing 3D objects using professional CAD software.
