In that kind of setup, U.S. Treasuries still play a key role as the core collateral for clearing trades during times of stress. Even if fewer countries want to hold them long-term, they remain the anchor for global pricing. Gold becomes more strategically important again, not for everyday transactions, but as a way for countries to back credibility and hedge against the system without relying on the West. Bitcoin finds a role too, mostly as an off ramp or hedge for individuals and countries facing currency instability, but it doesn’t become the main settlement layer. It’s more of a pressure release valve than a foundational pillar.
