UK GDP declined XXX% in May after XXX% decline in April. Looks like Q2 will show decline overall. So perhaps ministers can now stop spouting nonsense about being the ‘fastest growing economy in the G7’. 
As some of us have pointed out, it was always going to look a forlorn boast with a very short life. 
It’s clear growth in Q1 boosted by activity being brought forward, for which we’re paying the price in Q2. 
Overall GDP is broadly flatlining at below the OBR's forecasts, which means trouble for government revenues (which are based on OBR forecasts). 
And GDP per capita, on which so much of the twitterati was so keen to concentrate when the Tories were in power?
That continues to fall, making the black hole in Rachel Reeves’s finances even worse.
