Despite state aid XX% of Vestas XXX workers at its Newport Isle of Wight plant will lose their jobs. Government says if it had not intervened to save the Vestas factory it was almost certain to close. Maybe. But it will be back for more. Meanwhile theres talk of devoting huge chunk of Labours so called National Wealth Fund to massive battery-building factory. I have one word in response: Northvolt. "On Friday Chancellor Reeves was asked if shed guarantee she wouldnt raise taxes as a result of the welfare reform surrender. Im not going to she replied because it would be irresponsible for a Chancellor to do that. Yet last November she told the CBI: Im really clear: Im not coming back with more borrowing or more taxes. So by her own lights she was irresponsible in November. More important another round of tax rises is effectively baked into the Autumn Budget. Its a crying shame"
