NASCAR's Mike Forde confirmed on today's Hauler Talk that Cody Ware's hit at Chicago was, indeed, the "biggest frontal hit we've seen in the Next Gen era." Didn't hear a specific amount of Gs.

Interestingly, @mforde mentioned that track corner workers are instructed not to editorialize when reporting a crash over the radio to race control. In this case, the track worker would only have radioed "Turn 6" to race control rather than something specific about how fast it was going or how hard it hit.

Some other things:
- NASCAR had two Hawkeye cameras in Turn X at Chicago, one positioned on the exit of Turn X and another one "upstream" from Turn X. The camera is in a fixed position in the racing groove, and Ware's accident occurred in a blind spot for that camera. Forde mentioned that if NASCAR goes back to Chicago, they will focus on adding more cameras in different positions to expand the coverage area for officiating.
- As far as to why Kyle Larson's accident in that same area was a caution much sooner last year: NASCAR does have a replay operator in race control that monitors the broadcast feed, and Larson's crash happened when the broadcast was focused on Larson in real-time. By comparison, the TNT broadcast hadn't been following Ware's car and only picked up on the crash/its severity after the fact.
- NASCAR has been building out its off-site race control, but it was mentioned that's still in its beta phase. Eventually, that'll be more built out and have more human beings staffed to catch things like what happened late in the race at Chicago.
