While there is room to cut rates (3 times, according to my math), there is really no hurry to do so. Monetary policy is not that restrictive, the US economy is less rate senstitve than it has been, and while the inflation rate continues to edge closer to the Fed’s target, it has been quite stubborn. The Fed is leaning into fiscal expansion, as it should.
