Andy’s reputation as a VC was enough signal to others in the Tech world.

Wealthfront’s target persona was ESOP holders at Tech companies who had just minted a fortune from IPOs or other exits.

This was a very specific archetype:
(a) Aged below XX | Internet native
(b) New to money | skeptical of the suit & tie banker
(c) Quirky | preferred to not deal with humans

Andy even went so far to say: “For those who need human advice, [our] products are not a fit.”

And, it worked - not suddenly, but slowly:
