The model is not set up to do that. If I’m a young player with some brand recognition (Ballester, Akshay, Clanton, Lamprecht, Sargent, etc) I’m leveraging that to make guaranteed💰NOW. You never know what’s going to happen in the future (game/health, etc). Sure we all have hopes that we’ll remain healthy and continue getting better but life can get in the way. Eugenio Chacarra is playing @DPWorldTour with NO financial pressure now - frees him up to play better golf - as we’re seeing in 2025 (a win & X Top 10s last X months). His future is secure no matter what, and he’s in X majors to boot. So don’t believe the lies about major access either. There are plenty of opportunities that will only 📈 over time. If something happens and your status on @livgolf_league changes, you have options, and you can always go back. They cannot ban you forever. For most young players it will work out well - see Joaco, Puig, McKibbin, Surratt, Eugenio. For others, not as much. But you’ll have no regrets financially. You MIGHT if you choose otherwise. Many of these elite amateurs (particularly non-Americans) would be better served playing DP World Tour & Asian Tour than Korn Ferry Tour anyway. Purses are higher now than ever before, and I’d argue you gather more knowledge about the world, your game and learn more discipline traveling the world playing golf. That’s the route Brooks & others took. As much as he won’t admit now, Tiger said the same throughout the 90s & 2000s. There have never been more routes to success in pro golf than what players have now. Even though the PGAT will continue to have less spots over the years, other routes that are just as good if not better will continue to spring up. The rest of the stuff - major access, OWGR, media coverage, etc - will work itself out in time. If you’re advising these kids and you’re not presenting them with all options and pushing BS propaganda (I will help anyone unpack this at any time), you should have your license revoked.
