"โœ… here you go ๐Ÿ‘‡ Japan has been the world's Cheapest Credit Card for the last XX years:- X. Free Money Machine (Carry Trade) Since interest rates in Japan were near zero (or negative) big global investors borrowed trillions of Yen for almost free. They didn't keep this money in Japan; they converted it to Dollars/Rupees and invested it in high-return assets like US Tech Stocks and other markets. X. Panic Button Now that the yield has surged to XXXX% (highest since 2008). That free "Credit Card" is suddenly charging interest. Borrowing Yen is now getting expensive. X. "5/ Panic Button When the Yen starts strengthening investors get scared that their loans will become too expensive to pay back. To pay back the Japanese bank quickly before the Yen gets even stronger they sell their investments (stocks bonds) to get cash. When everyone sells at the same time to pay back their Yen loans markets fall. This selling frenzy is called the Unwinding of the carry trade"

"6/ @riteshmjn s point is valid that investors should stop worrying about a market crash caused by this specific issue unless Yen gets stronger. Coz as long as the Japanese Yen remains weak (cheap) investors can comfortably keep their free money loans open. They won't be forced to sell their stocks to pay back debts. Therefore the Carry Trade will continue to support global markets and the Unwind (the crash) won't happen yet. P.S. : Follow the Japanese Yen. If it stays weak the liquidity party will continue. If it spikes up we will see a sell-off in the global markets"
