"iirc @eugenewei once said years ago that (paraphrasing) it was insane that nobody in government has applied intense scrutiny to the tinder/hinge algorithms because they are responsible for the future of our country as much or more than any others. In a similar vein it's true we are heavily scrutinizing LLMs but imo the personality traits and steerability/manipulation conversation should be far louder than "will this thing lead to people making bioweapons or not""
