"I travelled to Costa Rica last November for two weeks. There tourist areas were like being in the worst parts of town in our highest crime cities in the US. Basic plumbing isnt a thing (you cant flush toilet paper) retail stores have to unlock the doors to let you in and let you out and in certain areas like puerto viejo the plumbing swells up when it rains and the entire city smells like literal crap. I also saw a couple get mugged a couple hundred yards away in San Jose. Other than that its a paradise"
