In the XX & 80s smaller market teams in the NBA were close to bankruptcy and had gun to their head to trade players to the Lakers Celtics etc or lose them entirely The distribution of playoff teams was small. The 90s didnt change it much. Only when the cap took hold did parity come about. In the NFL pre cap dominated by Cowboys Niners Steelerssince cap Cowboys and Niners a total of ONE SB ring and that happened first year after cap with left over pre cap dynasty of Cowboys.
