Tether has been printing large amounts of USDT out of thin air, with recent mints including $X billion and $X billion, to prop up the price of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. This has led to accusations of market manipulation and artificially inflating the crypto market. A major Bitcoin whale has also been shorting the market, with a $XXX million short position on Bitcoin through Hyperliquid.
