"Another RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC died and once again MSIs yellow-tipped 16-pin adapter is the culprit. A Reddit user shared melted connectors and a GPU that failed at idle. These adapters are still shipping with RTX 50-series cards. Despite no cable bends (side panel was removed) the adapter overheated. These older MSI cables are prone to failures especially with high-wattage cards like the 5090 which can pull up to 600W during extended sessions. To avoid disaster always use a PSU with a native 12V-2x6 connector. These adapter cables are unsafe for flagship GPUs and should not be trusted. #MSI"
