"In case you don't know what's going on with gold China is trying to establish the Renminbi (aka Yuan) for international trade especially in commodities. The way it works is that China pays you for whatever it imports (namely oil) in Yuan. Then you trade the Yuan for gold at the Shanghai Gold Exchange if you want to get your capital back out. Its a better version of the petrodollar except that your debts are already denominated in dollars and no one wants to borrow in gold so there's still some friction"

"Thesis: We're at the beginning of a new housing bull market (for land & developers mainly). Real estate tends to operate in XX year cycles. People are rightfully concerned that we may be nearing the end of one now. The biggest argument against is that supply tends to peak at the end of the cycle; today Western nations are undersupplied. Speculation also tends to run extremely hot at the end of a cycle. While speculation is certainly higher than normal today we're nowhere close to the multi-sigma deviations one would expect in a final dance. I'd say that we're more likely in the "beginning of"
